Nearly two-thirds of the Czech public (64%) expressed interest in developments in the current situation in the Middle East, i.e., the conflict between Iran on one side and the U.S. and Israel on the other; more than one-third (36%) are not interested in this conflict
A majority of the Czech public believes that the attack on Iran, carried out jointly by the US and Israel on February 28, 2026, was neither justified nor proportionate. Specifically, 59% of Czech citizens are convinced it was unjustified, and an identical 59% believe it was not proportionate.
More than half of the Czech public states that the United States is primarily responsible for the emergence and escalation of the conflict between the United States and Israel on one side and Iran on the other (52%). More than a quarter of the public believes that Iran is primarily to blame (28%), while less than a quarter (23%) sees the blame primarily on Israel’s side.
The prevailing opinion among the Czech public is that the current conflict between Iran on one side and the US and Israel on the other poses a threat. Nearly nine out of ten Czech citizens (87%) believe that the conflict is a threat to world peace.
Nearly three-quarters of Czech residents aged 15 and older (73%) stated that this conflict threatens European security. Respondents were least likely to perceive the conflict as a threat to the security of the Czech Republic; even so, a majority of the public (52%) believes it poses a threat.
