Selected CVVM Press Release available in English
The Public Opinion Research Centre (CVVM) within the research programme "Memory in the Digital Age" supported by the AV21 Strategy of the Academy of Sciences translated to English several press releases from the first half of this year to provide the final findings not only to Czechs. Press releases in English are available on previously published annotations.
Romanies and Coexistence with Them in View of Czech Public – September 2017
September survey of CVVM focused on public attitude and public relationships between Czech population and Romany minority. Survey showed that three quarters of Czech citizens (74%) see living together of Romany and non-Romany population as bad in Czech Republic generally.
Attitudes of the Czech society towards an amendment of a law about Czech educational system, higher education fees and standardized secondary school graduation tests – September 2017
In September, the Public Opinion Research Centre asked a set of questions related to attitudes of the Czech citizens towards last year's amendment of a law about Czech educational system. Simultaneously, the Public Opinion Research Centre probed opinions about standardized secondary school graduation tests and fees for the higher education.
Different types of schools in opinions of the Czech public - September 2017
In the opinion poll carried out in September 2017 by the Public Opinion Research Centre, questions regarding the Czech education system were included. More specifically, the questionnaire asked surveyors about their opinions towards the quality of education in different types of schools, and their perception of the possibility to gain education based on one’s abilities. Moreover, the surveyors were asked to evaluate if the education system is able to develop different aspects.
Public on Energy Transition in Germany - May 2017
In the May survey the Public Opinion Research Centre focused on the issue of energetics. Regular set of questions related to this matter was amended with several questions concerning so-called "Energiewende", i.e. energy transition in neighboring Germany.
Attitude of Czech Public to genetically modified food - June 2017
In June 2017 Public Opinion Research Centre included a block of questions connected to genetically modified food. Specifically, respondents commented their interest in genetically modified food. Subsequently, how often respondents monitor data on genetically modifying food or product ingredients on product labels. The last part of the block was a set of statements regarding the safety of eating such food, scientific knowledge of their impact on human health and the buying genetically modified food. The report also offers some comparison of the results of research by the Pew Research Centre in the US.

The Public on Electricity Consumption, Renewable Resources and Environmentally Friendly Production - May 2017
In May 2017 a survey of the Public Opinion Research Centre focused on issue of power engineering. The survey dealt with a question of the future development of electricity consumption in the country, and whether or not it is possible to replace the production of electricity from conventional sources with alternative sources. Furthermore, the survey has found out how environmentally friendly the production of electricity is from some sources according to general public. The investigation also examined the acceptability or unacceptability of the rise in energy prices in consequence of the financial support of their production from renewable sources.
New web application for time series analysis
CVVM now offers a web application with a time series database for anyone who would like to obtain information about its periodic research. Data in such summarizing manner have not been available to the public so far. Furthermore, the web application allows to sort the data based on gender, age, and education. All users can view, sort, and download the data. Language can be changed at the top-right corner of the screen. Czech and English version is available.

Public on Energy Policy and Future of Energy Production - May 2017
In May 2017 the survey of the Public Opinion Research Centre incorporated a regular set of questions focused on the theme of energy that was expanded by some special questions. The survey investigated interest in energy policy of the Czech Republic and its evaluation by citizens. It also focused on attitudes to matters like breaking of limitation on surface mining of lignite in Nothern Bohemia, financial favouring of exploitation of renewable resources of energy, possibility of production of electricity and heat in smaller local plants, environmental friendliness of atomic energy, or necessity of modernisation of Czech coal power plants with intention to prolong their lifespan.
