In June, the Public Opinion Research Center conducted a survey on the attitudes of Czech society towards the environment using the probabilistic panel Naše společnost (Our Society). Respondents were asked what pro-environmental activities their households engage in and what their attitudes are towards selected statements about the environment.
More than half of Czech households "always" or "often" engage in the following activities: sorting safe waste (95%), sorting hazardous waste (88%), saving energy and water (77%), and buying locally sourced food (58%). Older respondents (aged 40 and over) and respondents with higher education show a higher frequency of pro-environmental behavior.
More than four-fifths (82%) of respondents agree that it is good to do something for the environment, even if it requires spending money and time. On the other hand, two-thirds (67%) of respondents disagree with the statement that there is no point in doing anything for the environment if others are not doing anything either.
Due to a change in the CVVM survey methodology, the results of the present survey are not directly comparable to the results of previous surveys. More information about the new methodology can be found in this press release.
